Travelling to a conference, a symposium, workshop, or visiting another lab or institute is highly valuable to PhD students and early career researchers. It allows to present your work and get feedback on it from experts in the field, it offers opportunities to meet peers, to network, to develop collaborations, and to open doors for future jobs. Students from developing countries often don’t have the means to attend conferences. Here, the SIWA Conference Grant could be your entry to your conference.


Conference Grant

Each year at least one Conference Grant will be available for a student from a developing country to provide full or partial support for registration costs and travel to an aquatic scientific conference.

Research Support Grant

Each year at least one Research Support Grant will be available for a student from a developing country studying surface water quality issues


The Conference Grant is meant to cover in full or partially travel expenses and conference registration costs. The grant may also be used to attend a specific workshop or course. The grant maximum is € 1500,-. Applicants should send a motivation letter to info@waqua.nl

The Research Support Grant is meant to help out in surface water quality related research. The grant maximum is € 1500,-. The grant may be used for small equipment, field work or costs for analyses. Applicants should send a motivation letter to info@waqua.nl
